Have you ever met a person and just couldn’t help but really like them and wish for them to have the best that life can offer because they’re a genuinely good person that lights up whatever room they happen to be in at the moment?
Sometimes your heart just knows and you can just feel it in every fibre of your being.
That was my instant reaction to the first time John spoke to me with that delightful and very unmistakable Wisconsin accent in the Knights of Columbus lounge and in the years since I have never had any reason to question those instincts for even a second.
In fairness, one doesn’t have to be from the Midwest to elicit that reaction in others.
But it definitely helps! 🙂
So it should come as no surprise that when I heard that he and Ms Lori were going to make the joining of their hearts and their destinies official for all the world to see in the presence of the Lord, it was an even more joyful revelation than that sort of news usually is because I truly couldn’t be happier for two people I’ve come to cherish as much as family who deserve every bit of happiness that comes their way.
They’re are about as good a match as you’ll ever find and certainly way better than any that Yente from “Fiddler on the Roof” ever put together, whether it’s their shared interest in turning the whole concept of a quiet retirement completely on it’s ear by working even harder now in the seemingly tireless service of the needs of others or the incandescent love they have for each other and Ms Crystal (who is a truly amazing person in her own right and perhaps the most voracious consumer of paperback novels I’ve ever known!), the brightness of which even the Sun might be a wee bit jealous!
All three of them truly deserve every bit of happiness that is coming their way!
It was a honour and a privilege to attend his gentleman’s do at the pub literally just up the Rogers Lane and take a few candid photos celebrating the ending of a dear friend’s bachelorhood on parole before the main event that’ll be here before we know it. 🙂
