Raleigh-Durham International Airport (ICAO: KRDU, IATA/FAA: RDU) has one of the best locations for photographing airplanes that I’ve ever visited.

Situated between the control tower and flight service and the cargo ramps, it’s raised platform provides a beautiful view of runway 5L/23R from either approach direction.

Planes landing on the parallel runway can also be seen from the rear of the platform.

If spotting planes isn’t necessarily your thing, there’s a park that’s wonderful for picnics and a small playground for the kids to enjoy! 🙂
